Professional Man Job Searching Crossing San Francisco Street

Are you unsure whether you want a promotion, a new career, or better work-life balance?

Have you made a career change or found yourself in involuntary transition?

Are you facing challenges you’re not sure you can meet?

Do you seek challenges to help you grow?

At its best, work is an expression of our deepest selves, a context where we use our creative and productive energy to make a difference. With the right help, your work can do this for you.

I work with energy and emotions as well as with logic and planning to help clients take stock, clarify desired outcomes, and develop practices that support effective action. I customize my approach to fit your personality and learning style, help you notice what’s in your blind spots, and get you where you want to go as speedily and comfortably as possible.

Finding and sustaining work that is right for you is like performing surgery on yourself – almost impossible to do alone. You need honest perspective, in-depth knowledge of the world of work, and clarity about your values, your talents, and the environment in which you can be happy and successful.

Career Consulting

Career Consulting supports you in identifying your target job or career path, articulating your skills and accomplishments in writing (resume, LinkedIn) and in person (interviews, presentations), planning and following through on an effective job search, negotiating your job offer, and starting off on the right foot.

Executive Coaching

Executive Coaching serves managers and professionals who seek to master such “soft skills” as prioritizing, delegating, planning, influencing, and mentoring as well as managing your time and energy to serve both your professional and your personal goals. As in sports, a Coach observes from the outside what you cannot tell from the inside and shares her observations to help you accomplish your objectives more reliably, with less effort and lower risk of burnout.

Testimonials

“As a director at a well-known Bay Area employer, I have worked with Deborah for several years now, and she has been an invaluable partner in my career. She is an exceptionally skilled professional who has vast empathy, deft perspective, and cunning humor.  She has pushed me when I needed it, and she has been a guiding voice through some difficult times and decisions.  It has made a world of difference to work with her as a professional who can give me objective guidance, rather than relying on my friends and family to be that for me.  As a result, an added benefit is that my personal relationships have also improved. Whatever may come up along the way, it is entirely helpful to know she is in my corner and ready to help me when needed.  She has a vast knowledge of the latest research, and is then able to apply it to my particular situation.  Deborah is a grounded, wise counselor, and I am so appreciative to have found her!”

I have been grateful to have her in my corner for everything from career changes to preparing for a difficult conversation with my boss. Deborah blends technique and diverse industry knowledge with her own rich life experience to help me see my next steps.”
